Segundo o calendário oficial, brasileiros vão precisar do ETIAS para entrar em diversas nações europeias a partir de 2024.
Como o novo processo vai ser totalmente online, a implementação do sistema envolve muita tecnologia, principalmente quanto ao reconhecimento de dados faciais e impressões digitais de turistas.
Além disso, as informações inseridas no sistema são cruzadas em vários bancos de dados de segurança internacional com o objetivo de fazer uma triagem prévia de visitantes — o que deve neutralizar riscos e diminuir o tempo de espera nas fronteiras.
Portanto, antes que a autorização do ETIAS se torne obrigatória para entrada nos países que fazem parte do Espaço Schengen, a União Européia pretende garantir que tudo esteja funcionando de forma adequada.
